Ignorance

Better alone with my thoughts,
Than letting them fly.
So much to consider.
Plus, I’m a white guy.

Shit. That’s two strikes
In many a book.
Sucks we can’t all
Help he way that we look.

And, why should I say
What needs to be heard?
I’m not taking the blame.
That’d be absurd.

So many layers of bullshit
And money’s the tie.
Yet, most are confused
And are living a lie.

So, I’ll hold my tongue
It’s self preservation.
I’m not buying
That we’ve free speach in our Nation.

There’s always a cost;
A price to pay.
In a world filled with morons.
That I can say.

Woke Up This Way

That feeling has left.
It just lasted a day.
I feel so much better
Now that its gone away.

Not sure where it came from,
But it was a feelin of dread.
And, with the unease
Were thoughts in my head.

Something seems wrong.
What could it be?
I’m worried that something
Will happen to me.

Have I not been mindful?
Not followed through?
Will life throw a curve ball?
What can I do?

Thank goodness it passed;
that nothing bad came my way.
It may have come from a dream.
I feel better today.

Know that I’m Aware.
Where not, please know I Care.

The issues are so many.
Just so much I can see.

But, I walk, to take my Time.
I slow-down with a Rhyme.
Con si der ing
The life around me.
Thankful for this time.

I’ll often seek the Hawk.
I’ll sometimes find her Feather.
Just my time, just for a Walk.
Just me within the Weather.

Lovely is the sunshine.
I too enjoy the Rain.
Always tied to suffering
And managing our Pain.

And I’ve found that it’s O.K.
To just enjoy the Day.
To leave things as they are:
That Bullshit melts Away.

It’s another time
Around the globe.
Somewhere sits
A man in robe.

Hungry are a many.
Disease and war and peace.

But there’s no peace that lasts.
Ripples are the way.
We’re all connected here on earth.
Togther. One. Today.

Now.
Hear this.
Loud and clear.
Our heads are in our ass.

Be not content.
Do not ignore
The lessons from our past.

We’re holding everything.
And we’re held by want is here.

The things that we ignore
Are wrapped in all our fear.

But, we must follow hope.
And, love will light the way.
It’s up to us to see it.
We only have today.
